Galaxy Note 7 is prohibited in all US planes

Smart mobiles phone - The US authorities decided to ban smart phones Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which present a risk of explosion, in all planes to or from the United States and on domestic flights.

The ban comes into force on Saturday, and the recalcitrant passengers will face the confiscation of their equipment, as well as fines and even prosecution, said the Department of Transportation (DOT) in a statement.

Two months after the launch of its Note 7, Samsung arrested this week the production and sales of this product, believed to be one of his new star products, due to defects that could cause an explosion. He also urged all owners of this phone to immediately stop using it.

"We recognize that banning these phones on planes will annoy some passengers but the safety of all those on board an aircraft must have priority," said US Transportation Minister Anthony Foxx.

Specifically, the owners of a Note7 no longer be able to carry them or in their luggage or cabin. The phone can not be shipped by air cargo.

If passengers still trying to fly with their Note7, it will be confiscated. "All those who violate the ban can be subject to criminal prosecution in addition to fines," warns the DOT in its statement.

Airlines will also refuse to board passengers who refuse to separate from their phone.

US authorities have reiterated their calls to return the offending devices to their manufacturer.

"The fire (...) is simply too great for anyone to take the risk and do not meet the official recall" of the unit set up by Samsung, said Faye Elliot, President of the US agency consumer safety (CPSC), also said in the statement.
