Frankie Beverly, the soulful voice behind the band Maze, whose timeless anthems like “Before I Let Go” inspired generations, has passed away at the age of 77.
His family shared the heartbreaking news in a statement on the band's website and social media, announcing his death on Tuesday. The post, which requested privacy, described Beverly as having “lived his life with a pure soul, as one would say, and for us, no one did it better.” However, no details regarding his cause of death or location were provided.
Beverly's music, including hits like "Joy and Pain," "Love is the Key," and "Southern Girl," left a lasting impact on fans. He recently concluded his farewell “I Wanna Thank You Tour” in his hometown of Philadelphia in July. The same month, the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans honored Beverly and Maze with a special tribute, recognizing their influence on the festival, where they headlined for 15 consecutive years. His performances often transformed the audience into a jubilant crowd of dancing fans, many dressed in white to match his signature style. Yes Frankie died
