Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, has died at age 88. He passed away early Monday morning in the Vatican.

Cardinal Kevin Farrell shared the news on Vatican TV:
“It is with deep sadness I announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 a.m., he returned to the house of the Father.”
The cause of death is not confirmed yet. Some Italian media say it may have been a stroke or brain hemorrhage.
