Staying Aware as Earthquakes Continue Across the Region
Southern California is no stranger to earthquakes. But recently, the number of small and moderate tremors has gone up, making many people wonder: is something bigger coming?
What Experts Are Saying
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS):
- California has around 10,000 earthquakes every year
- Most are too small to feel
- Recent quakes have been between 2.5 and 5.4 magnitude
- These levels can shake buildings but don’t often cause serious damage
Many recent quakes happened along the San Andreas Fault and Palos Verdes Fault, which are known for strong seismic activity.
