India Targets Neelum Jhelum Dam in New Attack
Pakistan's military says India targeted the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project during a night attack on May 6–7.
A part of Bansiri Dam was also damaged.
DG ISPR (Pakistan Army spokesperson) said:
"India is trying to damage Pakistan's water resources. This is water terrorism and it has serious consequences."
He also asked:
"Do international laws allow attacks on dams and water supplies?"
At the time of the attack, many local and international flights were in Pakistani airspace.
26 Civilians Killed, 46 Injured in Overnight Attacks
The Pakistan Army shared full details of the civilian casualties:
- Ahmadpur Sharqia, Punjab:
A mosque was hit.
13 people died — including 2 girls (age 3), 7 women, and 4 men.
37 others were hurt.
- Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir:
Another mosque was attacked.
3 people died.
A girl and a boy were injured.
- Kotli, Azad Kashmir:
A 16-year-old girl and 18-year-old boy died.
A mother and daughter were injured.
- Muridke, Punjab:
3 men died at another mosque.
1 person was injured.
- Sialkot and Shakargarh:
No reported deaths.
- Line of Control (LoC):
Unprovoked firing by India killed 5 people, including a 5-year-old child.
Pakistan Army Calls It a Violation of War Rules
Pakistan's military called the attacks a clear violation of international laws.
They said India must be held responsible for harming peaceful worshippers and public sites.
India-Pakistan Tensions Hit Stock Markets Hard
The cross-border attacks also caused panic in the financial markets.
- Pakistan Stock Exchange dropped by 6,560 points, reaching 107,007.
- India's Nifty 50 fell 0.6% to 24,233.3 points.
- BSE Sensex went down 0.86% to 79,948 points.
Market expert Jibran Sarfraz said:
"The attack caused fear. Investors started selling fast to avoid losses."
He added that both individual and big investors rushed to pull out money due to war fears.
