Cyberattack Hits Schools in US and Canada, Canvas Goes Down

A big cyberattack hit many schools and universities in the US and Canada on Thursday.

The attack caused major problems during exam week.

At University of California, Los Angeles, students had trouble sending assignments online.

University of Chicago shut down part of its Canvas system for safety.

Hackers Asked for Money

Reports said the hackers sent ransom messages.

The messages asked schools to contact them to stop private data from being shared online.

Cyber expert Luke Connolly said the attack may have started earlier this week.

Government Warns About Cyber Risks

Chuck Schumer asked the government to improve cyber safety.

He warned that more online attacks could happen in the future.
