The Indian actor Saeed Jaffrey, acclaimed for his roles in films such as Gandhi, A Passage to India and My Beautiful Laundrette, died at the age of 86.
His death was announced on Facebook on Sunday by his niece Shaheen Agarwal.
A statement released by his family on Monday, said the actor died peacefully on Saturday in a London hospital. It reveals that Saeed Jaffrey collapsed at his residence following a brain hemorrhage and he never regained consciousness thereafter.
Saeed Jaffrey has worked with many actors, including Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Roshan Seth, James Ivory, Richard Attenborough and Daniel Day-Lewis.
Among his other films abroad, there is The Jewel in the Crown, Chicken Tikka Masala, The Man Who Would Be King and Death on the Nile.
Monday, on Twitter, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Saeed Jaffrey as a "multifaceted actor whose flair and versatility will always be present in our memories." more at Latest Online News
