New details have emerged about the upcoming Apple M3 processors. There are four versions in the pipeline: M3, M3 Pro, M3 Max, and M3 Ultra.
The next-generation Apple M3 processors are set to make their debut in the new lineup of MacBook, Mac, and iMac models. While the official unveiling is expected to happen gradually over the coming months, insights shared by Bloomberg journalist Mark already give us a sneak peek into the anticipated features and the extent of this range.
Apple is reportedly working on four distinct iterations of the Apple M3 chip:
Apple M3: 8-core CPU — 10-core GPU
Apple M3 Pro: 12-core CPU — 18-core GPU
Apple M3 Max: 16-core CPU — 32-core GPU
Apple M3 Ultra: 32-core CPU — 64-core GPU
Enhanced versions of the M3 Pro, M3 Max, and M3 Ultra chips are also in the works, boasting up to 32 CPU cores and 80 GPU cores, tailor-made for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro.
What sets the M3 chips apart is their adoption of the cutting-edge TSMC 3nm manufacturing process, which promises heightened performance and notably improved efficiency. In simpler terms, the battery life of MacBook devices could see further enhancements in the coming months. Additionally, reports suggest that Apple is aiming to ramp up the memory capacity in its computers. Testing is underway for configurations featuring 36GB and 48GB of RAM.
