A tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia

Media Claimed the lives of two 14-year-old students and two teachers. Additionally, nine others, including eight students and one teacher, were injured and hospitalized, though all are expected to recover.

The suspect, a 14-year-old student at the school, had previously been investigated, along with his father, after receiving anonymous tips about potential threats of a school shooting. However, no arrest was made at that time due to insufficient evidence, according to the FBI's Atlanta division and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The weapon used in Wednesday’s incident was identified as an AR-style rifle, confirmed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation director. A law enforcement source previously informed CNN it was specifically an AR-15-style weapon.

This shooting marks the 45th school shooting in 2024 and stands as the deadliest one this year, according to CNN’s analysis.
