Paralympic Games 2024: Medal Count by Country and Athlete on Saturday, August 31

France Secures Eight Medals, Including One Gold, on a Successful Saturday at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Saturday proved to be a triumphant day for French athletes at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, as they claimed a total of eight medals. Dorian Foulon delivered France’s third gold medal, successfully defending his Olympic title. The Portal brothers both made it to the podium in swimming. After three days of competition, France sits 8th in the overall medal standings, meeting their pre-set goal.

Dorian Foulon Shines with Gold
Overcome with emotion during the French national anthem, Dorian Foulon proved unbeatable in the 4000m pursuit (C5). Just like in Tokyo 2021, he clinched the gold medal with a time of 4'16"169, finishing over a second ahead of Ukraine's Yehor Dementyev (4'17"785).

A Medal Haul for Team France
Alexandre Leaute, despite being the favorite in the 1,000m C1-C3 time trial in track cycling, had to settle for third place with a time of 1'04"207, trailing behind Li Zhangyu (1'03"480) and Liang Welcong (1'04"103).

Gatien Le Rousseau also secured a third-place finish in the individual pursuit, again in track cycling, category C. This marks his first Paralympic medal, clocking in at 4'24"096, just ahead of fellow Frenchman Kevin Le Cunff (4'28"380).

Meanwhile, Antoine Praud claimed France’s first athletics medal in the 1500m T46 event.

In table tennis (XD7), Flora Vautier and Florian Merrien earned a bronze medal for their efforts.

Brothers Kylian and Alex Portal managed to secure bronze and silver, respectively, finishing behind world record holder Ihar Boki in the 400-meter freestyle S13.
