A tragic incident unfolded in the region of Shewal, located in the tribal district of North Waziristan in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. An explosion in a vehicle carrying laborers has resulted in the loss of 11 lives, with two individuals sustaining injuries.
According to DSP Sher Allah, the incident occurred in the village of Meerkormi in Shewal, North Waziristan. He reported that the explosion took place as laborers from South Waziristan were returning from their work in the evening.
The vehicle was carrying a total of 16 people at the time of the incident, among whom three are missing, and two are injured.
Following the explosion, the police and security forces swiftly cordoned off the area. A search operation is currently underway in the region. The bodies of the deceased laborers have been transferred to ancestral areas in South Waziristan.
While investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion, initial eyewitness accounts suggest that the explosion was triggered by a collision with a roadside barrier.
It's worth noting that security forces had conducted an operation in the Shewal area some time ago to combat terrorism. Multiple checkpoints had been established in the region. According to another report, laborers from South Waziristan were working at one of the checkpoints, but the police have not confirmed this information. news report by BBC
