Lil Tay has passed away, according to a post shared on her Instagram on August 9th. The cause of her death has not yet been publicly disclosed, but the post states that the "outcome was unexpected and has left us all in shock." The Instagram post also informed that her brother has also passed away.
After this post was published, some individuals on the internet expressed doubts about its authenticity, as her father and former manager did not confirm her death, and several police departments contacted by the media had no reports of her passing.
The message shared on Lil Tay's account, whose real name was Claire Hope, included a request for privacy, as "the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's deaths are still being investigated."
After the Instagram post announcing her death, both her father and her former manager, Henry Tsang, separately stated that they couldn't confirm the teenage star's departure. Tsang told the Daily Beast, "Given the complexity of the current circumstances, I am at a point where I cannot definitively confirm or refute the validity of the statement issued by the family." He clarified this in a TikTok post. Hope's father declined to comment on whether his daughter is still alive.
Hope, who hailed from Atlanta, Georgia, and later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, first caught the public's attention in 2018 when her videos at the age of 9 became popular. She was seen using profanity and flaunting expensive watches and money.
Her post described him as a "father figure." She also befriended the controversial creator Woah Vicky.
