Chinese security officers stopped a US Secret Service agent from entering the Temple of Heaven with a weapon during a visit by Donald Trump.
The problem delayed the White House press team for about 30 minutes.
US and Chinese officials held talks before reaching an agreement. After that, reporters were allowed to enter the site.
Arguments Between Security Teams
Reporters said there were loud arguments between US and Chinese security staff during the visit.
Chinese officers also tried to stop some American reporters and workers from returning to Trump’s motorcade.
The situation became tense before and after the visit to the Temple of Heaven.
Expert Says This Happens Often
Drew Thompson said these problems are common during big world leader trips.
He explained that security teams and media workers sometimes argue during important visits.
He added that the atmosphere can become very stressful.
Reporters Must Stay With the Convoy
A White House reporter said missing the motorcade can create serious problems for journalists.
He explained that reporters must stay close to the president’s convoy at all times.
Similar Problem Happened Before
A similar incident happened in 2016 during a visit by former US President Barack Obama to China for the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit.
At that time, US and Chinese officials also argued over security rules near Air Force One.
